Hey My Fam!

This week was full of miracles, spiritual experiences and new investigators!  And a little bit of sickness for me too!  XD  Oh, and the weather is so amazing today.  We'll see how long that lasts!

I started feeling really sick Tuesday night.  Wednesday we were filling in at the Family Tree, so I just went upstairs and rested.  Sister Willis went out with Sister Alexander, one of the spanish speaking sisters and they found two new investigators!  Then on Thursday we had a lesson with Mya and her friend Joanna, who is a member and she wants to learn more too!  Then on Friday we helped cleaned this lady's house.  She isn't a member and she had shoulder surgery and can't do much.  And then they invited us over for dinner of Saturday and they are going to let us teach them more as well!!!  So many awesome miracles that are happening!  Me and Sister Willis are so excited!

We taught Robert again on the phone this week!  He is doing amazing.  He accepted the date to be baptized on May 18th!  The Spirit was so strong in the lesson.  I was still sick, but the Holy Ghost just took over and directed me to what I needed to say and ask him.  He has so much faith.  His biggest concern is other people and their reaction to him learning more about the gospel.  I told him that if he knows that it's true and that he's willing to follow Jesus Christ and do anything to do that, then the Lord will bless him.  It may be hard, but the Lord is always there to help him.  He is loving the Book of Mormon, and who wouldn't?  The best book EVER!  Then we taught him last night.  He went to church yesterday and just loved it!  He went to church with a question and it was answered at church.  He could feel the Spirit so strong at church.  We taught him about the Plan of Salvation.  Answering the questions, where did we come from, why are we here and where are we going?  He loved it!  He was really curious about what happens after we die.  I taught him from Alma 40 which explains it so well!  When we were done with the lesson part, I asked him what he thought and if it all made sense.  He said yes, that he didn't really understand before what happened after we died and he said it makes sense and that I taught it clearly and it just makes sense.  Then he asked if he could share his testimony with me!  It was so amazing to hear him say that he knows the church is true.  And that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith is a prophet.  And that we have a prophet on the Earth today.  Then he started bearing his testimony about the things that he learned about the Plan of Salvation.  He is so excited to get baptized and he wants to continue to read the Book of Mormon.  Then he asked me to share my testimony with him!!!  What investigator asks that?!?!  One that is awesome and totally prepared!

I shared it with him.  How I know that Jesus Christ is truly my Savior and Redeemer.  That it is through the Book of Mormon that I have come to know my Savior better.  That He loves me and he is my best friend and elder brother.  I love the Book of Mormon so much.  It is true!  It answers all of my questions.  It gives me comfort and directs me towards Jesus Christ.  That is how I know it's true.  And because I know the Book of Mormon is true, I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and that Jesus Christ's church and authority has been restored to the Earth.  I know this with all my heart.  I love being a missionary.  It is the best decision I have made in my life.  I know that God has sent me here for a reason to learn so many things.  And I'm learning them.  And I have the privilege to be a representative of Him and to teach all of my brothers and sisters and to help them to follow Jesus Christ.  I love the feeling I get when I teach people and testify to them about the Book of Mormon and Jesus Christ.  I love being a missionary.  What a blessing it is to be missionary.

Speaking of missionaries, I've been reading in Alma.  Alma and Amulek were the most coolest missionary companionship ever!  I have really loved Alma 14:25-26, 15:16-17 16:14-17.  And today I read Alma 17.  When it talks about Ammon taking care of King Lamoni's sheep and they get scattered.  Sister Willis had taught me earlier that the sheep are like the people of our ward.  The leadership/missionaries are Ammon and the servants.  Trials, temptations, and even bad people can distract us and turn us away and scatter us from the living water.  But it is our duty to find those lost sheep in our area and bring them back to the living water (church) and help them to stay there, so that they can be nourished spiritually.  We have to help to build them up and strengthen them.

And Alma 17:11  gives me a lot of comfort being a missionary!

This morning the other sisters came to pick us up so we could go shopping and they got a flat tire.  They were on our road outside our long driveway.  Me and Sister Willis went to the trunk and pulled out the spare and all the stuff.  The other sisters had no idea where the spare was and they called the Elders and I was like, we don't need them.  We got this!  The sisters were so amazed that I knew how to change a tire!  But this man came and stopped us and changed it.  The lug nuts were really tight and I was in a skirt.  But if he hadn't come by, I would've gotten it!  Believe me!  :)  Hope you guys have a great week!

How's it going!?!?

We had such an awesome week!!!!  Our numbers may not show how awesome our week was, but it was pretty awesome to us!  First our Zone leaders came up to our district meeting.  Later when we were working at the Tree I gave Elder Hipp (ZL) and Elder Simon (who's in our district) a tour at the Family Tree.  And they gave me a lot of help on what I could incorporate into a tour.  Like Preach My Gospel principles, Joseph Smith's First Vision and inviting someone to be baptized.  Elder Hipp asked if I had done it before at the Tree.  And I said no.  He asked why not?  I had no idea.  But he demonstrated how I could using the resources in the Family Tree.  And it was way cool.  I never thought how the Family Tree Visitors' Center is also proselyting.  And my attitude completely changed.  Since then I've been inviting people to be baptized.  One when we've been chatting online at mormon.org and the other teaching Robert over the phone.  I love working at the Tree!  It is so fun to be able to talk to people that come in, do family history, and then teach people on the phone or online!  I feel so blessed to be able to teach the gospel by the Spirit in so many different ways!  I told the Elders later and they were so exciting saying "That is so legit!"  Something they commonly say!  ;)

We had the most amazing experience at the Tree.  We've been starting to teach Robert over the phone at the Tree.  He is from Washington state.  It has been one of the most spiritual experiences ever.  As we are teaching him I can feel the Spirit so strong.  We've mostly been talking about the Book of Mormon and reading it together.  I've invited him to be baptized twice now.  The first time he didn't understand why he needed to be baptized again, but I taught him about the restoration of the priesthood and the need for authority.  The last lesson we had the Spirit directed me to read with him the last two paragraphs of the introduction to the Book of Mormon.  We read this after I invited him again to be baptized.  And after we read it I asked him if he wants to learn more.  Then I asked if he wants to know if the Book of Mormon is true.  He said yes to both.  Then I asked him when he comes to know if it is true, if he will be baptized.  HE SAID YES!!!!  So he said he is going to continue to read and pray.  We prayed with him over the phone before we hung up.  It was the most amazing feeling ever!  I know that by being here in the Tree I was able to help teach him the gospel.  And I wouldn't have had that opportunity if I wasn't a visitors' center missionary.  I feel so blessed and I know now, why the Lord sent me here!  Being a missionary is the BEST!!!!  I know that I was sent to this visitors' center to be able to teach him.  He's the guy that randomly called the Family Tree to asked where Moroni's promise in the Book of Mormon was.  That if you ask with real intent that the Lord will let you know by the power of the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is true!  It was not a coincidence that I answered the phone and now I get to teach him.  We'll work on seeing if he is ready to meet with missionaries in person and prepare for baptism!  I love being a missionary!  It is the best!  Everyone needs to go on a mission.  Even though there are the hard times, the most amazing and joyful times totally overcome all the hard and disappointing times!
We also had a cool experience.  We went to go see a recent convert.  He wasn't home, so we knocked on his neighbor's doors.  It was in an apartment complex.  We started talking to this guy, Roberto, but he spoke very little English and said that he didn't want to complicate things with his family by learning about religion.  But this other guy passed us by and went to his house.  We started leaving the complex, and I just felt this feeling to wait a second.  So I did and Sister Willis was walking away.  This guy, David came out of his apartment.  He was the guy that passed us.  He asked if we were from the LDS church.  Yep, that's us!  He said he wanted to tell us something.  We were like, sure.  He has been inactive for a long time.  He's been an alcoholic for three years and wants to come back to church.  And he knows that we can help him to do that.  Isn't that just awesome!  I love how we are able to help people.  And the Lord puts us in the path of His children that need us at that moment.

Things are going well here in Park City.  We have so many potentials that we hope to start teaching consistently and help them to prepare for baptism.  It is still snowing on and off.  I think summer doesn't come until June or July?  We went as a district last week to the Olympic Park Museum, from the 2002 Winter Olympics.  We also went to the Shoe Tree!  We had a lot of fun.  I'll send you the pictures.  Oh, and my companion Sister Willis is so awesome!  Just thought I'd let you know!  :)  That's so cool that Sister Mouritsen is serving in Statesville!  I told her that the Charlotte, NC mission is the best!  With second to UT SLC South mission!  ;)  Remember to OYM (Open Your Mouth) and talk about the gospel to people!  They need to hear it!

Love you tons and tons!

Hey Fam!

So transfers came and I got a new companion!  Her name is Sister Willis.  She is from Missouri.  She is 23 and she graduated from BYU-Idaho last July with an English degree.  She just finished her training as a new missionary.  She is so awesome and is ready to get to work.  It's been fun showing her the area and the Family Tree and how to do a tour and family history work.  It's been great in the Family Tree.  I met a couple yesterday that lives in Charlotte, NC.  They are transplants, but were way nice.  It was great to meet them.

Crazy thing, we've been having so many people that want to meet with us or have shown up to church.  I really feel like things are going to pick up and the Lord is going to show us many miracles, of those that are ready to receive his gospel.  We have so many potential investigators.  Please pray for them!  We just started teaching this family.  The Mom is a member but her three kids aren't.  They are such an awesome family and the kids want to be baptized, but the Mom thinks they need to learn more.  So we are going to teach them and get them ready, so that she'll feel they are ready.

We've had so many blizzards lately!  It's been crazy.  It's snowing today as well.  That's spring in Park City!  And it's been really muddy because it snows and then it melts.  Sister Willis isn't liking the crazy weather.  But we have fun in it.  Yesterday we went tracting out in the boonies on dirt roads and there were so many pot holes!  Good thing for 4 wheel drive.  Picture it.  Going down a road full of pot holes.  The car was going up and down.  It was so funny!

Alma 5:12-14
12 And according to his faith there was a mighty change wrought in his heart. Behold I say unto you that this is all true.
13 And behold, he preached the word unto your fathers, and a mighty change was also wrought in their hearts, and they humbled themselves and put their trust in the true and living God. And behold, they were faithful until the end; therefore they were saved.
14 And now behold, I ask of you, my brethren of the church, have ye spiritually been born of God? Have ye received his image in your countenances? Have ye experienced this mighty change in your hearts?
I read this yesterday during church.  I love reading the Book of Mormon at church.  I always am able to receive answers to my questions at church and especially through the Book of Mormon.  It will answer any question.  You just have to ask the Lord!  I love Alma 5.  These verse really helped me.  Helped me to learn to change my heart.  Then it tells you how to change your heart.  To have faith, humble yourself, trust God, and endure to the end.  That is how your heart will be changed.  I've been struggling with this new area and working at the Family Tree.  But I know that the Lord was showing me that I need to have a change of heart and to love it here.  Because miracles will and can happen.  Mormon 9:19-21, 25  You just have to have the faith and put in the effort.  I also loved these other verses in Alma 5:12-15,19,26,27,45-46,37-38,60-62

I know that the Book of Mormon was given to us to help us in our day and time.  The Lord knew we needed more of his word.  2 Nephi 29  I love the Book of Mormon.  I love reading it and feeling of it's power.  If you haven't yet, get a Book of Mormon, read it and then pray about it.  See how much good it will do to your life.  Love you all!!!

Love,
Sister Marlow

Well, it's a blizzard here in Park City today.  Mostly slushy snow.  It might not stay too long, but it has been snowing ALL day!  How did you all enjoy General Conference?  It was amazing wasn't it?  I absolutely loved it!  I had so many questions answered!  I love that we have prophets and apostles and men and women called of God to teach us the things the Lord needs us to know.  I loved hearing from them.  I don't have my notes with me, but they were all so good. I loved Elder Ballard's talk.  And Elder Nelson, way to bring it home!!!  I loved how he talked about missionary work!!!!  And remember that we are all missionaries in our hearts!  Even though you don't wear a name tag, we are all disciples of Jesus Christ.  Being baptized into the church you promised to take upon His name.  A part of that is opening your mouth and sharing your feelings about the gospel.  And give the missionaries work to do!  It was so great to be in the conference center for the last session of conference!  We were so close to the front on the bottom floor!  I'll send you the pictures.  It was fun being with the other missionaries in the mission as well.  I talked to Elder Denny who is serving in Draper asked me if my uncle owns Port of Subs.  I was like, yeah!  He said that he asked him if he knew me, and he did because we were in SoJo Zone my first two transfers.  Then he fed the Elders and they said that it was a blessing because their dinner appointment had cancelled.  :)

So this week was pretty cool.  Saturday was an awesome day.  We went out to work.  Sister Summerhays felt like we needed to go see this less active.  She wasn't home, so we went to see this former investigator.  She lives in a neighborhood with town homes.  So we pulled up and outside I saw a man sitting on his front porch.  The Spirit told me we needed to talk to him.  We were still sitting in the car, and we got a couple of phone calls.  Then the man went into his house.  But I still knew that we needed to talk to him.  So we went and saw Lori the former investigator.  We invited her to download the Book of Mormon to her iphone to listen to it on her way to work in the morning.  She said we would and then we left.  We then went to knock on this man's door.  His name is Pete and he's in his 70s.  It was so great to talk to him.  We gave him a Book of Mormon and he said that we could come back.  He was really grateful that we stopped by to talk to him.  It was amazing to be an instrument in the Lord's hands.  I know that I may not be able to influence everyone and get the whole state of Utah baptized, but I know that I'm here to help with the Lord's work in anyway that I can!

Transfers are on Wednesday.  More than likely I won't be transferred   But two missionaries in my district might!  And Sister Walker has completed her mission and is going home!  It's so sad.  But to everything there is a season!  Hope you all have a great week!  I can't wait to get the Ensign and re read conference!

Hey Family,

So this week has been an amazing one!  So many miracles and tender mercies that the Lord has shown us this week!  On Monday we received a text message of a referral from Church headquarters.  It didn't have an address, so we called the number and talked to this man named Stuart and asked when we could meet with him. He said he would stop by the Family Tree Center.  So he did and we got to know him.  He's been going through a divorce this past year and a lot of trials.  He's been going to church in Heber with a friend and wants a change in his life.  He was the one that went to Mormon.org and filled out a referral for himself!!!!!  We taught him about the Book of Mormon.  We read Moroni 10:3-5.  We told him what it takes to find out if the Book of Mormon is true and if the church is true from reading those scriptures.  We asked him if he has that real intent and desire.  He said he does.  As we were testifying to him of the truthfulness, his eyes just lit up.  He really wants this and he is so ready.  We invited him to be baptized and he said yes!  So excited to have met him.  It was so amazing to be able to teach him that day.  The Spirit was so strong.  I know that the Lord was teaching through me.  It wasn't me at all.  I know that I cannot convince or convert anyone.  It is the Holy Ghost that teaches and converts.

Then later that day the phone rang at the Family Tree and I answered it.  It was this guy, Robert from Washington that is going to come into the Family Tree in a couple of weeks and wondered if there were people there that could answer his questions.  I got to know him, did some How to Begin Teaching and just started answering his questions.  I told him to read Moroni 10:3-5 and Alma 22 to answer his question if there really is a God.  It was amazing to teach him about the Book of Mormon and how to pray.  He hasn't prayed in years.  But he isn't coming into the Family Tree for a couple of weeks.  So I asked if I could keep in touch with him and follow up on his Book of Mormon reading.  He said yes!!!!  It was such a great experience to be able to teach him.  He randomly called the Family Tree!  And I got to talk to him!!!!  So cool.

Then yesterday on Easter, it was a good day.  The Easter bunny came to visit us at the Family Tree!  We went to sacrament meeting and then we had to go work at the Family Tree Center.  So we were fasting yesterday to be able to know who we need to focus on at this time, to find those people that need us right now.  After our dinner appointment and after we ended our fast we went to this referral.  They are a part member family.  They let us in and we shared an Easter message from 3 Nephi 11.  When Jesus Christ appeared in the Americas.  It was so great to teach them more about Jesus Christ and how he truly does live and he loves us.

So on a not so serious note, we saw a MOOSE!!!!  I'll send you the video and some pictures.  We were out contacting referrals and Sister Summerhays left the car unlocked, just in case we would have to run for the car!!!  I'm so excited!  I get to go to General Conference.  I'm going on the Sunday afternoon session!!!  I'm going with the other sisters in my district.  Sister Summerhays doesn't get to go because the choosing was done by seniority.  I wasn't sure if I would be able to get to go.  But as I think about it, and General Conference is coming up, I've been on my mission for 6 months!  How is that possible?  Conference time marks a milestone for my mission time.  I can't believe it!  Everyone enjoy General Conference this weekend!  How blessed are we to have a prophet again upon the earth to speak for the Lord and direct His children.  Hope everyone had a great Easter weekend.  And Happy Belated Birthday to Brandon!!!!

Love ya tons!!!!
